Oct 16, 2025: We were pleased to host a spiritual retreat from September 9 to 17, 2025 for a group of Buddhists from Taiwan. It was held at Honor’s Haven, Ellenville, NY. There were seminars taught by Buddhist monks as well as mindfulness walking sessions amongst trees and the natural landscape. We also visited nearby Buddhist monasteries and learned about part of the history of Buddhism in New York state. Participants told us that they felt rejuvenated and refreshed. We look forward to hosting another retreat next year!

“Everything was very well-organized and thought of. Couldn’t have asked for more!”

“All our questions were answered patiently and any last-minute changes were taken in stride. We were very impressed with the organizer’s calm demeanour and willingness to accommodate changes and our needs.”

“We really enjoyed the visits to the Buddhist monasteries in upstate New York. Felt like we were in another world and our worldly worries melted away.”

“It was my first time being mindful of my five senses in an outdoor setting. It was unforgettable! I learned that as long as I have a quiet space, and am mindful of my body and thoughts, my mind has the ability to completely focus and tear down my innermost suffering. Meditation is a method for dealing with my negative emotions. Through meditation, I can see the beauty in life!” Group photo in front of the waterfall at Honor's Heaven.

June 24, 2025: Dharma Ceremony. Recently, there has been much turbulence and stress in the world. We recently held a small ceremony at 27 Allapartus Circle, Ossining, NY, where we chanted the Avalokiteshvara Universal Gate Lotus Sutra Recitation for world peace. Here are some photos.

Please feel free to contact whitelotusphilan@gmail.com if you are interested in participating in such activities.

December 21, 2023: Closing on a property. We are pleased to announce that we have closed on the following property as of Dec 21, 2023. The address is 27 Allapartus Circle, Ossining, NY 10562. Pending local municipality approval, White Lotus hopes to use this new property to host regular outreach activities (spiritual enhancement classes, meditation, caring for the environment, plant-based diet etc.).

As this is a newly acquired property, we wanted to hold a land purification ceremony where the Great Compassion Mantra or Om Mani Padme Hum (Six Syllable Mantra) is chanted while blessed water is sprinkled with a small branch of a willow tree. Buddhists believe that this brings about positive energy and good fortune to all living beings residing within the area that is being purified. This is a demonstration of friendship, respect, and goodwill to all creatures already dwelling there. Traditionally, Buddhist monastics host the land purification ceremony. So we invited Buddhist nuns from Great Wisdom Buddhist Institute (“GWBI”) to help with the rituals.

Below are some photos from the ceremony.

If you would like to offer support (monetary or otherwise) for the property and its associated outreach activities, please feel free to contact whitelotusphilan@gmail.com
